Launching TrenchDevs!!!

Learning starts in the trenches.

On this Labor Day weekend, consider envisioning your future. New decade has just started and only 4 months left until 2021. Because of the global Coronavirus pandemic, remote work and unemployment increased overnight simultaneously. With this sudden change, how far are you from achieving your goals and mastering your skills? Is your resume worth showing to potential employers?

What if there is a website highlighting experiences, accomplishments, and projects? Experiences from previous and current jobs that made an impact on the company? Accomplishments from college or personal experience that will spark curiosity on your fellow colleagues or friends? Certifications earned to master skills and applying those skills by creating personal projects? Perhaps, a website expanding your knowledge in the field by learning and gaining experience?

Hence, TrenchDevs.

What is TrenchDevs?

Portfolio

TrenchDevs is a way for you to put a spotlight on all your professional experiences and accomplishments by creating your own portfolio. A portfolio is an encapsulation of knowledge. It features skills, experiences, and certifications. One of the elements on the TrenchDevs’ portfolio is your own personalized subdomain. Additionally, it will feature all your previous and current personal projects and endeavours. We want you to land the job you’re after by creating a portfolio to help potential employers navigate your experiences and accomplishments easily.

Blogs

Blogs are a great way to express yourself and your own personal ideas. At TrenchDevs, you have the ability to create your own blog posts about learning a project personally or under TrenchDevs and teaching the creation and implementation to other members. By using the blogs feature, you can contribute your knowledge in the field to other members. Potential employers are interested in individuals who can confidently execute the job.

Custom Modules

For your own custom modules, you can use TrenchDevs as your back-end. Authentication is via JWT, so if you have a front-end idea (React, Vue etc.), just submit a pull request on the main repository and you can easily integrate your app via the TrenchDevs.

Technology Stack

TrenchDevs is built using PHP, Laravel, VueJS, jQuery, and various AWS services. The backbone is built on top of AWS, the notable services utilized are Route53, ELB, EC2, RDS, S3, SES, and SNS.

Who we are and what we do?

TrenchDevs believes in outcome-based learning and adapting to different technologies by creating purposeful projects. We are a group of experienced and soon to be software engineers who have shared interests in various technologies. As a community, we collaborate and learn based on each member's experiences.

We are interested in creating meaningful projects. Future projects will most likely be non-profit and open-source projects, as the main goal of the organization is for learning. We want to show our active members every step taken in finishing the project. By doing so, we also want your opinions and suggestions on how to improve.

We focus on current and future developers, however, even non-developers can take advantage of the portfolio and blogging features. Since TrenchDevs is currently on an experimental stage, in the future, we would like to add more features that will highlight an individual’s work.

Some of the projects featured are:

  • Alumni Tracker
  • BFP Procurement System
  • B2B Scheduler
  • Infosentia
  • Project Lengua
  • MyTransientHouse
  • SAMSCIS Queueing System
  • TrenchDevs

Overall, TrenchDevs is designed for learning by constructing the TrenchDevs application itself. We want to continue to broaden our knowledge by approaching different ways of learning and acquiring information from other developers.
